PWA ISLAS CANARIAS AWARDS

Find out why Bjorn Dunkerbeck has been nominated for the wipe out of the year

French Photograper, Eric Bellande, captured the untimely demise of Bjorn Dunkerbeck’s (Starboard / Severe / Mystic / Dunkerbeck Eyewear / Chris Benz) 2012 PWA Slalom World title hopes after his mast capitulated to leave his dream of back-to-back championships in tatters.

After capturing this moment perfectly on film, Bellande, has since nominated Dunkerbeck for the Islas Canarias PWA Windsurfing Excellence Awards in the only category it could be...wipe out of the year. This will come as little consolation to the terminator though as this was effectively the moment when the 2012 PWA Slalom World tile was decided. After a fierce battle, which spanned the course of the entire season, Antoine Albeau (RRD / NeilPryde) snatched the victory from Dunkerbeck’s grasp having come into the event in second place.

Remember that the 2012 Islas Canarias PWA Windsurfing Excellence Awards are still open, so if there’s a key moment that you feel hasn’t been nominated yet, then make sure you head over to the awards page here to enter your nomination(s). You can enter as many times as you want.
