MY CAPE TOWN

Christopher Friis revels in the stunning golden sun of Cape Town

Top Danish wave sailor Christopher Friis spent his winter in the wave sailing paradise of Cape Town, South Africa. With the southeaster trade winds blowing from October to April - usually best between November and February - Cape Town offers the ideal escape from winter, as well as delivering truly world class wave sailing conditions.

This winter the Cape Doctor certainly didn’t disappoint with an abundance of wind and waves throughout the duration of the season, which created the perfect playground for Friis to develop his skills.

The twenty-two year old has just released this fantastic new edit, with much of the footage captured in the stunning golden light of the beautiful Cape Town sunsets. With such an amazing backdrop Friis’s movie was never going to disappoint, but the action is as equally breathtaking. Friis slashes the waves to pieces as the spray glistens in the evening sun. The Danishman also lands several radical frontside wave 360s, whilst launching into monstrous stalled forwards.

As well as competing on the PWA World Tour this year Friis will also be holding a Wave Academy Clinic in El Medano, Tenerife, between the 12th-16th August. If you’re interested in signing up for the clinic then more info can be found on the TWS Facebook page.
