EL YAQUE TOWN OF CHAMPIONS

Frantic freestyle from just one of the many El Yaque Champions

The El Yaque Town of Champions consists of four supremely talented windsurfers - 5x Freestyle world champion Jose ‘Gollito’ Estredo (Fanatic / North), 3x freestyle world champion Ricardo Campello (JP /NeilPryde / MFC), previous vice world champion Cheo Diaz and the lady in question today - the 2010 vice world champion Yoli de Brendt (Fanatic / North).

The Venezuelan finished the 2012 season in fourth place - having narrowly missing out on a place on the podium for the third successive year - after a furious battle with Arrianne Aukes (RRD / Simmer / AL360 / Maui Ultra Fins). Now the thirty-seven year old has released her latest video, which highlights the world class conditions that El Yaque so often produces.

El Yaque is located on the Islas of Margarita, Venezuela, and benefits from super reliable trade winds between the months of November to June. As de Brendt shows,  El Yaque truly is a freestylers perfect playground, watch as the Venezuelan glides her way through silky smooth moves such as full planing grubbys and e-sliders, brilliant switch chachoos, clew-first punetas and she even busts several shakas.

de Brendt is clearly in formidable form ahead of the first female freestyle contest of the year - which takes place in July in Fuerteventura - and more determined than ever to reclaim her place on the podium.
