SLOW MOTION FREESTYLE

Onboard with the radical Russian freestyler Yegor Popretinskiy

Yegor Popretinskiy (Maui Ultra Fins) has been a household name in and around the top ten of the freestyle world in recent season gone by. The twenty-six year old finished the opening event of the season at the PWA Surf World Cup - Podersdorf, Austria - in seventeenth place and he’ll be looking to improve his position when the freestyle battle recommences in Fuerteventura between the 19th to the 26th July.

Having competed in Austria the Russian maestro headed back to the freestyle playground of Dahab, Egypt - where he spends much of his time - to put in the hours training to ensure he is ready for Fuerte. Armed with a mast-mounted camera Popretinskiy treats us to a birds eye view of some seriously slick moves. Popretinskiy flies through fully planing forwards, huge shuvits and shakas before stepping up the technical difficulty with sublime spock culos.
