PODIUM LIFE

Will Dario Ojeda be able to complete a hat-trick of Pozo podiums?

When the PWA Wave season kicks off on the 9th of July, Dario Ojeda (Tabou / Gaastra / MFC) will be looking to claim his place on the podium in Pozo for the third successive year. The local boy excels in the howling wind and waves, which have made Pozo famous, to consistently fight his way to the top of the pack with crazy aerial antics and prowess on the wave. With the start of the season just a couple of weeks away we caught up with Ojeda to see how his preparation for the event is going. Read the interview below:

PWA: How has your winter training gone and are you feeling confident for the first event of the season?

DO: “My winter training went really well, I tried to stay in the water all the time, windsurfing, suping or surfing. We had pretty good winter where I could do all three sports at least two or three times a week, so I’m pretty happy and ready for the action.”

PWA: This year you have the chance to finish on the podium in Pozo for the third year in a row, are you concentrating on this or trying not to think about it?

DO: “Well, I will try to do my best to focus on sailing good heats and then the results will come along. Sometimes competitions depend also on the conditions, so we will see what we have this year and I will try my best to be there again. The truth is that I feel better than ever.”

PWA: What is your aim for Pozo and the season?

DO: “I would like to win or finish on the podium at every event - obviously - but as I said before there is a lot of factors, plus a lot of good guys also with the same goals, so it’s going to be a big challenge.”

PWA: It sounds like you are really pushing your sailing with push forwards etc, have you landed any? What else have you been working on over the winter?

DO: “Yeah, I try to train all the latest moves that get higher points and it,s no much people that can do it plus all the waves moves.

PWA: Thanks Dario and good luck for the season.
