Kauli Seadi – First Super X Winner

Q: How does it feel to be the first ever PWA super X winner?

KS: I Feel super happy about it, especially because it was something that I never trained or expect to do well!! For me the whole thing was more all about a "show" and fun sailing in between friends than a competition!

Q: Have you ever raced before?

KS: I use to do Racing when I first started to compete, I did I until 1999 when I was already sponsored by Naish Brazil. In 2000 I quit racing when Naish International sponsored me as a wave sailor.

Q: Was it a tough battle with Antoine?

KS: Not for me, I was super stoked just being in the second place, and on the last day of racing I won twice and became first. It was a surprise even for me, because winning was never my goal!!!

Q: Was it fun?

KS: Every thing is fun about it. At the start you are all running to the water with those helmets all in mass chaos. The buoy jumps were funny and so hard sometimes, if you got the wrong timing! The worst moves for me was the duck Jibes, I had a hard time doing those.

Q: Was it easy to pull off all the moves at full speed?

KS: No it was really hard actually, because I was on a big sail to start quick and go fast, but for the moves I was super powered up

Q: What sort of equipment were you using?

KS: I was on my small freestyle board, and a Naish boxer 4.7 most of the time.

Q: Do you think Super X is going to take off?

KS: I hope so! It is perfect for spectators they can understand what is happening, what riders have to do and who is wining the races. Plus it is a big show, the riders have so much fun and it brings good energy for the sport!!!
