Looking Ahead

Adrien Bosson looks ahead to the Mondial du Vent hoping to take advantage on home waters

With just five days to go before the curtain is raised on the 2015 PWA World Tour with the Mondial du Vent PWA Freestyle World Cup, we caught up with top French freestyler Adrien Bosson, who will be looking to take advantage on his home soil. The Frenchman finished 2014 just outside the overall top ten, but frequently figures in the top ten positions, so he will certainly be one to watch very carefully.

PWA: How are you feeling about having the first freestyle event of the year in France?

AB: “I’m super excited that this event happens, this year again there is a new PWA stop that I've never done before and I love that because the tour doesn't become a routine with the classic events we are used to do.”

PWA: Do you have much experience of sailing in La Franqui? If so, what are the conditions like?

AB: “I know the spot of La Franqui as I've been there last year for the Windmeet during Le Mondial du vent and we had crazy wind during 4 days ! It was one of the most insane competitions I have competed at and I can say that when the Tramontana (north west wind) is blowing it's pretty hard to stay in control on your windsurf board!”

“Actually I’ve been sailing there only last year, so I know a little bit about the spot but I think this is already an advantage.”

PWA: Could you tell us a little bit more about the spot?

AB: "The spot of la Franqui for me is king of like Fuerteventura, without the swell. It's a long sandy beach, with Tramontana wind, it's side-shore port tack, strong wind, choppy and gusty close to the shore. I know that it works with east wind as well but not more…”

PWA: Anything else you would like to add before the event?

AB: “Anyway I'm really happy that a PWA World Cup happens there, Le Mondial du Vent is a really big event and will fit perfectly with a Freestyle World Cup! Looking forward for this event and fingers crossed for some good conditions!”

PWA: Thanks Adrien and good luck when the green flag goes up.
