Mondial du Vent PWA World Cup

Day 2: Tow-in qualification completed, whilst the real freestyle is expected to start tomorrow

Qualification for the tow-in final was completed on day two of the Mondial du Vent PWA World Cup as the light winds continued, however the weather was fantastic with wall-to-wall sunshine for the entirety of the day.

At 3:30pm a further twelve sailors battled it out for the remaining six places in the tow-in final and the show which followed was spectacular as the freestylers took things to the next level again. Frenchman Julien Mas (JP / Avanti) qualified in top place as he landed an amazing air funnel into burner to earn 27.5 points out of a possible 30 points.

Meanwhile, Kiri Thode (Starboard / GA Sails) claimed second place ahead of Adrien Bosson (Fanatic / North / Maui Ultra Fins) and Bjorn Saragoza (Starboard / Hot Sails Maui), who shared joint third. Also making it into the final are Mattia Fabrizi (Fanatic / North), who landed an amazing planing culo, as well as seventeen year old Sam Esteve (JP / NeilPryde).

The forecast for tomorrow looks promising with southeasterly winds of 18-25 knots being predicted for the late morning and afternoon, which should hopefully allow the single elimination to begin so the contortionists of the windsurfing world can show exactly what they are capable of. With this in mind the skippers’ meeting has been called for 9am tomorrow morning, with the action commencing from 9:30am if conditions allow. Don’t miss any of the amazing action by tuning into www.pwaworldtour.com - here you’ll be able to follow the action as it happens via the PWA live stream and live ticker.
