Decisions, Decisions

Ricardo Campello is back on the water, but will he compete in Pozo?

The majority of the windsurfing world will recall that Ricardo Campello (Patrik / Point-7 / MFC) suffered a serious foot injury back in April — 3 broken ligaments, 2 fully broken and 1 partially — which has made him a major doubt for the start of the 2016 PWA Wave World Tour, which begins on the 3rd July with the Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival.

The good news is that Ricardo is back on the water, the bad news is that it seems the opening event of the year may come a little too soon to allow the former 3-time world champion to compete despite a rapid recovery.

Campello tried sailing for the first time since sustaining his injury yesterday and released the following statement: “So today I went out windsurfing for the first time after my injury because I needed to decide if I will compete in Pozo or not, I tried to do some moves to see how I felt. If normal I could bare the pain, but if I have a bad landing or a bad movement I experienced a lot of pain. I’m still in doubt if I should risk it in Pozo or I should wait for Tenerife and have less pain! On the other hand every time I have sailed with pain I have done well at the events! I think I will wait for Tenerife but what do you think?”
