NoveNove Aloha Classic

Countdown is on and celebrating 30 years since Cesare Cantagalli landed the first cheeseroll in competition

There’s now less than two months to go until the start of this year’s NoveNove Aloha Classic, which takes place between the 31st October until the 13th November.

Over the year’s Ho’okipa Beach Park has produced some of the most iconic moments windsurfing history and this year will be no different with the men’s and women’s wave world champions being crowed in Maui, Hawaii, once again.

However, this year’s edition of the Aloha Classic will be even more special as it marks the 30th anniversary since NoveNove’s founder and brand manager — Cesare Cantagalli — landed the first ever cheeseroll in competition during the 1986 Aloha Classic,

In doing so Cantagalli secured his place in windsurfings hall of fame, but perhaps more importantly he redefined what everyone thought was possible in windsurfing. It opened a new doorway of possibilities and as a result the disciplines of wave sailing and freestyle have been pushed to higher and more dynamic boundaries than ever before.

Cesare Cantagalli reflects on the last 30 years: "Wow…30 years have gone by so fast! I must say doing the first cheeseroll was for sure the biggest success in my career and I feel lucky to be amongst the biggest names in the history of windsurfing.

The Aloha Classic in 1986 was for me, and many others, the beginning of a new time. I am happy to see that the ‘cheeseroll' opened new frontiers to aerial moves in the waves, and also flat water freestyle, which has continuously evolved each year.

There could not have been a better opportunity for me to celebrate this achievement during the same event, at the same place and time as 30-years ago, and also having the honour of my company being the event title sponsor for the NoveNove Maui Aloha Classic, just fantastic!

I don’t want this to be where my dreams end, because I have a lot more to do and NoveNove still has a lot of things to share, but a big thanks to everyone who has made it possible and they know who they are.”

Will NoveNove’s main man Kauli Seadi (99NoveNove / Hot Sails Maui / MFC), who has also been a pioneer in the sport, be able to go one better than last year and dethrone Morgan Noireaux (JP / Hot Sails Maui)? There’s only one way to find out and that’s by tuning into www.pwaworldtour.com between the 31st October until the 13th November — here you’ll be able to follow all the epic action as it unfolds via the PWA live stream.

NoveNove have also just released their brand new range of 2017 toys, which you can view by visiting www.99novenove.com.
