Steven Van Broeckhoven Faces Spell on Sideline After Undergoing Ankle Surgery

Steven Van Broeckhoven (JP / NeilPryde / Shamal Sunglasses) has been forced to go under the knife in order to resolve an ongoing issue with his ankle caused by loose cartilage in his ankle.

The 2011 PWA Freestyle World Champion made a bright start to the season with a 5th place in Fuerteventura, which was better than any result in 2016, but then had to settle for 17th in Sylt with his ankle undoubtedly hampering his performance. That means the Belgian maestro finishes 11th overall for 2017.

Steven Van Broeckhoven: “No windsurfing for me the upcoming months. Need to have surgery done to clean out the loose cartilage from my ankle. Had this problem already for a while but the lasts months it got worse. Now it’s time to get it fixed and work hard for next season!”

Everyone from the PWA would like to wish Steven a speedy and successful recovery. You can stay up to with Van Broeckhoven’s progress via his Social Media Channels:
