Lena Erdil Learning To Walk Again - Lisfranc Recovery Week 1-8 at PT Academy

Unfortunately, while competing during the 2018 Gran Canaria Wind&Waves Festival earlier this summer Lena Erdil (Starboard / Point-7 / AL360 / Chopper Fins) suffered a foot injury after landing a forward loop, which was later diagnosed as a dreaded Lisfranc injury. Over the last couple of months Lena has been rehabilitating and making rapid progress - which you can monitor in her latest VLOG.

Lena Erdil: “Have you had Lisfranc injury or similar? or have it at the moment? comment below and share your story its always great to be able to share those kind of experiences! What did you learn during this phase of your life, are you fully functional now? I'd love to hear your experience.

Also any questions regarding the exercises we are doing or treatment I will try and and get the PT team to answer.

Since my injury in Pozo now 2 months ago PT Academy in Istanbul has been by my side pretty much constantly. We even did a few pre-op sessions to help the inflammation go down.  While treating my foot I am also being treated on my shoulder, which had started showing clear signs of overuse from too much windsurfing and maybe not enough stretching...

I am off crutches now but walking is not entirely pain free, so I can see that there is still quite a recovery journey ahead off me, but I believe the hardest part is over.. I'm so thankful for Gülsah and her team always motivating me and helping me turn this Rehab phase into something all around useful.  Hope you will like this Vlog.

Many Lisfranc patients have to wear the cast a lot longer but with trust from my doctors and daily checks with PT academy I was out the cast and into the boot already after 2 weeks, which allowed us to start early with massages that would help the circulation and so on.”
