The iconic Ho'okipa Beach Park provided scintilating action with powerful waves and wind from the first day of the waiting period, which reiterated the importance of returning to Hawaii for the first time in 3 years.
With no discard to come for the men there was all to play for in the men's title race with 6 sailors all realistcailly in with a chance of winning the title. As it turned out though, the world tour leader at the time - Philip Köster (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) - would secure his 5th world title as the German finished joint 9th at this year's Aloha Classic. Meanwhile, Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins) went on to become the first woman in over two decades to steal the Women's PWA Wave World title away from the Moreno twins...
