The 2006 Surf World Cup Neusiedler See – Day Seven

As the forecasts suggested, it was a glassy surface that greeted the competitors at the lakeside here in Podersdorf this morning. With bright sunshine the mirror flat water was never likely to be disturbed by any high winds or the latest Freestyle tricks.

Last night the riders were given a sightseeing tour in picturesque Vienna, incorporating a Surf party in the main Schwarzenburgplatz Square. The capital cities residents were then treated to an unusual sight on their commute home, when they saw the sponsors tents, palm trees and world wavesailing champion Kauli Seadi (Quatro/Naish) and Caribbean trick master Taty Frans (Starboard/MauiSails) sailing their boards under the fine spray of the squares ornamental fountains!

Lavish hospitality was then given by the organizers and Mayor with an evening in one of Vienna’s highest profile venues, with Bjorn Dunkerbeck (North Sails), and Brian Talma (Starboard) amongst the surf star guests.

The forecasts suggest some thundery weather is on the cards for tomorrow; the last possible day for competition to be completed. It is hoped this unsettled situation might provide some wind to allow the second round to kick off and provide a counting result towards the world title race.

Skippers meeting is set for 09.00, so in case the wind does show up, please check the SINGLE ELIMINATION LADDER. to see the draw, and, in the meantime please keep an eye on our homepage for any change in the situation throughout the day at www.pwaworldtour.com and www.surfworldcup.at
