Germany to Denmark
Have you ever thought about what it would be like to sail from one country to another? Well, Nico Prien (Starboard / NeilPryde) didn't just think about as he recently undertook the mission, along with Gunnar Asmussen (Starboard / Severne Sails), to sail from Germany to Denmark, whilst documenting all of it and lets just say it wasn't all plain sailing...
Nico Prien: "Baltic Sea Crossing. Another tick on my bucket list.
Since so many years, whenever I would go sailing in my home spot, I couldn’t help, but imagine to keep sailing until you arrive at the other side. You can’t see it, but a look on the map shows that Denmark is not too far.
The wind forecast aligned (well, sort of) and a couple of phone calls & a day later we found ourselves in Kiel to launch over to Denmark.
We sailed a total of 110km, which in itself is not a lot but Gunnar Asmussen and I faced a couple of challenges, which made the trip an unforgettable memory. Sometimes childhood dreams do come true – this was one of them.
