2002 Verizon King of the Cape Freestyle Pro-Am
The Cape Cod Windsurfing Association is proud to announce the 2002 Verizon King of the Cape Windsurfing Freestyle Pro-Am, June 7-9 at sunny West Dennis Beach on Cape Cod. This event is sponsored by Verizon Wireless and SuperPages.com, in conjunction with Paul Mitchell Systems, Hyannis ,Nissan, and Vision Performance Group, distributors of AHD, Fiberspar, and Gaastra Sails. This fourth annual event is the only U.S. stop on the Professional Windsurfing Association Freestyle Tour.
As in past years, many TOP pros will be in attendance including Matt Pritchard, Web Pedrick, Jason Stone, Martin Van Geenhoven, Brian Talma, Nathan Mershon, and Jace Panebianco. Also confirmed is the return of the fabulous Team Bonaire, featuring Tonky and Tati Frans, who are ready to take on the world. These young freestylists from Bonaire will blow your mind.
Competing for QUEEN of the CAPE will be a field stacked with talent including the PWA top three ranked women in the world: Colette Guadagnino of Margarita, and Iballa Moreno and Daida Moreno from the Canary Islands, Spain. These women will be pushed by such up and comers from the U.S. and Canada as Nori Hubbs, Kim Martin, and Anick Violette.
The King of the Cape takes place immediately prior to the PWA Costa Brava Freestyle event in Spain, and accommodations are being made to ensure that competitors can pre-register for Costa Brava at the King of the Cape event for those continuing on to Spain.
Although many of the World's Best will be at the King of the Cape, this event is known for it's fun and camaraderie, and stiff competition, in the amateur divisions as well. Parties, food, prizes, and color commentary round out this windsurfing festival at West Dennis Beach.
Discounted accommodations are available for competitors and spectators at Corsair Cross Rip Hotel in West Dennis through Mark Downing (800 889-8037).
