Defi WIND 2025
There will be no names engraved this year on the Defi trophy, with Lady Tramontana having decided to take some time off from Gruissan.
Some lucky riders came early to practice or to take part to the numerous clinics held by Jordy Vonk (Duotone Windsurfing), Femke van der Veen (Starboard / Severne Sails), Antoine Albeau (Severne / Severne Sails), Nico Prien (JP / NeilPryde), Marion Mortefon (PATRIK / PATRIK Sails / PATRIK Foils) or Nico Warembourg (PATRIK / PATRIK Sails / PATRIK Foils) and others. To entertain the thousand riders on site before hand, the organiser Philippe Bru started an unofficial practice race that gathered hundreds of wind addicts.
Beside the happy hours from the boat show and the many concerts, smiles were on everyone's face despite the lack of fuel in the sails. It is quite emotional to see the love for the sport between amateurs and pros, parents, mums, kids, veterans, showing how great windsurfing is.
There is such an energy behind the concept of the Defi WIND that some participants have already blocked their agenda and booked their chalet for the next edition. The 2026 Defi WIND is scheduled to return from May 14th to 17th. That gives you a year to prepare physically and get mentally ready to face the wild rabbit start and the 10km reaches in 30 knots of Tramontana. Come and enjoy the Defi craziness, whether you sail on a fin, on a foil, on a windsurfer LT or onboard a tandem! The comeback of the Defi Caribbean in Bonaire was also announced for 2026, from June 17th to 21st for those who prefer to experience a smaller scale Defi in tropical weather.
