Interview with Lars Petersen
Q: Tell us about your latest video project? LP: Well, together with the production company Pro Cam in Copenhagen we have launched a video and DVD Wave/freestyle instruction and action film.
Q: What is your strongest discipline?
LP: In the right conditions it could either be Wave or Freestyle really. But if I had to choose only one, it would be Freestyle.
Q: Where are you based?
LP: I'm based in Klitmoeller, which is a lovely little fishing village on the northwest tip of Denmark. I have always spent my summers up here, but as of January this year my girlfriend and I have bought our dream house up here.
Q: What is the windsurfing like over there?
LP: The windsurfing is fantastic! It is one of the windiest places in North of Europe. We also get decent waves up here. But it's bloody cold in the wintertime.
Q: What is your favorite place to complete?
LP: That would be Klitmoeller, as this is the place I know the best. And most the time you get both good jumping and wave riding at the same spot
Q: Is it easy to make a living coming from Denmark?
LP: The economics is quite good in Denmark, and the companies do have money to spend on sponsorships, so if you have a good plan, you can find some reasonable deals. But I wouldn't call it easy, as probably in most places you have to work hard to make it happen.
Q: Tell us about your latest video project?
LP: Well, together with the production company Pro Cam in Copenhagen we have launched a video and DVD Wave/freestyle instruction and action film. We always thought it would be fun to make a film, and then we saw a real need in the market for an instructional film. The film has been selling good, so we are stoked about that! For more information on the film you can go to www.larspetersen.dk
Q: How about your on line competition?
LP: I got the idea for the web contest after a competition where I was thinking about what a shame it was in normal freestyle or wave contest that your "future" was determined by 3 judges in 6-8 minutes heats. I thought about how cool it would be to compete longer time and with more judges, and then I came up the web contest format, where with the voting system everybody can be judges and then you get much more sailing time.
The interest have been enormous and we plan do more web contests in the future. To check it out go to: www.tideguide.org/webcontest02/go/
Q: Words to live by?
LP: No not really, I wish it was that simple! I basically live by always trying to look on the positive in each situation.
Q: Ambitions for the future?
LP: To get on the podium at world cup events.
