Day 2 of the Aruba Hi-Winds saw the Slalom action ignite as racing officially got underway in a solid 25 to 30 knots. The Fin fleet completed an impressive five eliminations, with the trade winds delivering challenging conditions and insanely close racing.
For some, it was their first time at an international competition, whilst for others it was a chance to step up into a new age group or show how a winter of training can make all the difference.
In the U21 division, Mario Boekstegers leads the way after a fantastic day of racing and showing some blistering speed. He is one who has put the time in this winter and its showing.
Meanwhile, Arxon Gomperts and Julien Blom have stepped up an age group this season to U17 & U15 respectively, but this new challenge doesn't seem to phase them - both putting on a stellar performance.
With multiple eliminations already in the bag, the standings are beginning to take shape as the competition heats up. All eyes now turn to tomorrow, with more racing expected in similarly breezy conditions expected, which should see the Foil fleet get their turn to take on the Blue Highway.
