The Challenger Women hit the water on Day One of the Tenerife World Cup. One of the standout performances came from 16 year old Slalom Racer Bobbi-Lynn De Jong (Starboard / NeilPryde) of Bonaire, competing in the Pro Women division on Waves for the first time. She immediately caught everyone’s attention with a five point+ wave score and a forward loop! Posting by far the highest score of the heat.
Germany’s Trine Gobisch (Duotone Windsurfing) also showed why she is already a familiar face in the youth divisions. Known for her stylish wave riding and solid forward loops, she secured her place among the top performers of the heat.
Argentina’s Dominica Osman, who is based in El Médano, finished third. Osman showed her vertical surfing style, but she looked to be lacking a little power in her sail during the heat.
Advancing to the next round are Bobbi-Lynn De Jong and Trine Gobisch, where they will face higher seeded sailors, including Japanese Junior Girl star Natsuki Wakasa (Goya Windsurfing) and Germany’s Junior U21 Helena Lale (Severne Windsurfing), who spent the winter training in Australia.

The Challenger Men took to the water on Day One of the Tenerife World Cup. Round '0' featured several standout names. Freshly crowned Slalom X World Champion Matteo Iachino (Starboard / NeilPryde) showed off his skills on the waves in his second wave competition ever, while Defi Wind champion Nico Prien (JP / NeilPryde) made his first ever appearance in a wave event, proving he is not only fast but also a talented wave rider.
Another major highlight was the return of Noah Vocker (Sailloft Hamburg). After an eight-year break from competition, the Lanzarote rider claimed victory in Heat 1 ahead of Italy’s Giuseppe Costanzo Walter (JP / NeilPryde), who is based in El Médano.
Heat 2 saw Franek Zarski and Matteo Iachino secure their places in the next round.
All four qualifiers now advance to Challenger Round 1, where they will face higher-seeded riders including Josep Pons (Point-7), Javier Escribano (Goya Windsurfing) and Takumi Moriya (Severne Windsurfing).
