The 2007 Colgate World Cup Sylt – Day 8

The Sylt seafront swells with spectators as a lack of wind fails to spoil the Party

After the dramatic events of yesterday’s freestyle conclusion, massive Saturday crowds flocked to the Island of Westerland’s Brandenburger Strand at Sylt to mingle with windsurfing’s top names and biggest celebrities.

Sylt’s fine wine and quality seafood attract crowds regardless and the chance to get an autograph and meet and greet some of the best windsurfers on the planet is the icing on the cake.

All day the stage has featured great interviews with legends of the sport such as Robby Naish and current PWA champions Antoine Albeau (Starboard / NeilPryde), Kevin Pritchard, and Jose Estredo (Fanatic / North).

Tonight is traditionally a big party night in Sylt and any will enjoy themselves late into the night before the final day dawns.

However the chance to complete the men’s wavesailing competition tomorrow is a real possibility and so an early meet is called and a first possible start of 08.30 has been set.

The tension is certainly rising along with hopes that a pumping swell will kick up overnight.
