Biography1st PWA event entered PWA Surf World Cup Freestyle 2011
A bit later than most at picking up the sport, I have spent the last 7 years teaching windsurfing across Europe, Kenya and Egypt. I've been very lucky in having this opportunity to train in some amazing locations and learn a huge amount. I started competing in 2012, small scale events to start getting used to heat sailing.
Last year was my debut on the PWA at Podersdorf. Unfortunately, I was unable to sail for 3 months before the event and so was a 'bit' rusty to say the least which I think reflected my result. In Fuerte my heat sailing had improved a lot but poor kit selection let me down a little there. My summer ended in the UK where I sailed a lot better, advancing over Andy Chambers and Adam Sims in heats and sailing like I know I can!
Podersdorf PWA: 33rd
Lefkada EFPT: 9th
Fuerteventura PWA: 33rd
Poole UKWA: 4th
Dahab Watersports Festival Overall - 1st Place
Dahab Expression Session - 2nd
I spent February in Cape Town and have been in Egypt for 3 weeks now training with a lot of the top sailors. My personal sailing is going great and I have added a lot of moves and combos to my repertoire (Burner into Funnel, Spock into Kono, Double Grubby, Triple Punetas, Flaka Shakas, Double Esliders) that will help me to push myself in competition and exhibit the sport. In comparison to last year, I am much more prepared for competing at an international level and would love to start the year on a high note at Podersdorf.
I would have sent my Wild Card in sooner, but I was hoping to get some updated video together to back up my application. I haven't managed to get many of my newest moves on camera but here is a (very rough!) cut of a few clips on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7ebNisv9mk
