Starboard Tack Rules The Way

Davy Scheffers - Pure Starboard Tack, Regular Stance Domination in Fuerteventura

Davy Scheffers (Tabou / GA Sails) has finished as high as 5th overall in the freestyle rankings, which shows his world class pedigree for freestyle. Things didn’t quite go to plan last year with the Dutchman finishing 18th overall and this year he started with a joint 17th place in Fuerteventura - despite landing the first ever shifty on the way in.

The 25-year-old has just released his latest edit which features purely starboard tack, regular stance moves in Fuerteventura’s glassy flat lagoon and the action is outstanding with numerous never seen before combinations being landed.

Davy Scheffers: “When I was practicing my moves those days in Fuerteventura I had set the focus really showing what my perception of windsurfing is really about, what I am able to do on the water, that I have been looking for a different way of moving to do many new combinations that no one has seen before.

Now that I made the clip, just a simple clip filled with 5 minutes of tricks that I’d like to share with you, and now that you seen it. Count the amount of moves that you can’t find in the Tricktionary.

Yes we only filmed on one tack only, no switch stance also. This is another edit not supported by professional film maker. This is a non-budget video.

The years of determination and motivation led me to the level that I am riding at nowadays.

This is my technique after years of practicing the basics and most professional moves.

For the last 15 years I have been practicing windsurfing in beginner level and pro level. For 7 years I have been traveling on the international scene, traveling to many spots around the world with the best windsurf riders in this world.

The techniques I show you here are a combination of the speed, power, strength, precision, timing and mastering the wide variety of aspects with the body and mind. Countless hours of hard work, training and not giving up.

There is so much more to come, and we see here the beginning of something greater.”
