Preseason Buildup

The Mortefon’s - Pierre and Marion - Look Ahead to the Start of the Season

Last season - Pierre Mortefon (Fanatic / NorthSails / Chopper Fins) and Marion Mortefon (Fanatic / NorthSails) became the first brother and sister to finish on the overall podium since Britt and Björn Dunkerbeck (Starboard / Severne), as both of them completed the podium on the PWA Slalom World Tour.

Now with the start of the season just a few days away we caught up with them to see how they are feeling ahead of the start of the new year.

Marion Mortefon: “I’m on my way to Japan. I’m feeling super ready for the beginning of the season, I never had a winter like this! Full of training and different destinations ;-)

I discovered in January Cape Town, where I really enjoyed wave riding, and a bit of slalom training also in this awesome place! February and March were more about slalom, training in Tenerife and Lanzarote, first time for me also, super happy about my choice!

In April, we had the chance in France to have some training with the national team, super experience again. After this big training, I think I put all the chances in my side to continue improving from last year… Let’s see what the Asian events will bring to us!”

Pierre Mortefon: “I cannot wait for the opening of the season ! I work hard all the winter and spent lot of time on the water. To summarise quickly, I discovered South Africa in January! It was a really good trip, mixing slalom and wave riding almost everyday ! Then I was back on full training mode with 2 * 2 weeks in Tenerife with the TWS center and finally I was at home from mid March to now. It was really nice to sail at home, I spent lot of time on the water with my mate Marco who came to my home. Then I also competed at the 1st stop of the French Champ and a Victory! Then I enter in a new world with the arrival of my little son Léon, who born on April 17th… So, definitely I will arrive fully motivated in Japan."
