SOMWR 10x Cabo Verde PWA World Cup

Day 7: Attention Shifts to Sunday After an Anti-climactic Day, But There’s Plenty of Promise Heading into Tomorrow

There was much anticipation and excitement surrounding Day 7 of the 2022 SOMWR 10x Cabo Verde PWA World Cup, but unfortunately the promise of the forecast never materialised with the long period swell taking longer than expected to hit Cabo Verde.

The waiting and wondering, whilst being quite annoying when you get skunked, is also part of the beauty of wave sailing / windsurfing, so we’ll reset for tomorrow when the swell should hopefully have hit by then.

Reports from some locals already indicate that the swell is starting to hit the north of the island, so with the swell increasing to 5ft @ 17 seconds, and having slightly more west in it, hopefully we will be greeted with a pumping Ponta Preta in the morning.

First light in Cabo Verde is about 6:30am, so the sailors will meet again at 7am on Sunday morning for the skippers’ meeting - giving a first possible start of 7:30am (GMT-1).
