Day 4: Wennekes Builds Almost Unassailable Lead, Whilst Bruno Martini Seizes the Initiative in the Men's with the Second Discard Coming into Play

The wind machine continued on Day 4 of the Zoo Station Bol, Croatia, PWA World Tour, which allowed two further eliminations to be completed in the Men's and Women's divisions.

Women's

Sara Wennekes (Future Fly / Severne Sails) has built an almost unassailable lead heading into the final day of the event after a quite brilliant display of sailing. The Dutch girl has won 5 of the 7 eliminations thus far, whilst she has finished second in the other two races, so she is deservedly on the verge of defending her event crown from last year.

Behind Wennekes, Marion Mortefon (Fanatic / Duotone / LOKEFOIL) looks to have consolidated second place after two third places finishes on Day 4, whilst Blanca Alabau Starboard / Severne Sails / Starboard Foil) completes the top 3 for now, but Helle Oppedal (Starboard / Severne Sails) is just 2 points behind her, so the final podium positions are not yet confirmed.

Elsewhere, Justine Lemeteyer (FMX Racing / S2Maui) deserves a special mention after recording her first bullet on the world tour after coming out on top in Elimination 6.

Men’s

With the second discard coming into play after Elimination there has been another change at the top of the men’s rankings as Italy’s Bruno Martini (JP / NeilPryde) moves into the lead heading into the final day. Martini recorded a brilliant victory in Elimination 6 and the 28-year-old now holds a 3.6 point lead over fellow countryman - Matteo Iachino Starboard / Severne Sails / Starboard Foil), whilst Pierre Mortefon (Fanatic / Duotone / Phantom Foils) moves into the top 3 for the first time this week at the expense of Enrico Marotti (JP / NeilPryde).

Reigning World Champion - Nicolas Goyard (Phantom / Phantom Sails / Phantom Foils) - seems to have gone off the boil slightly after winning both of the opening eliminations and the Frenchman drops to 7th after missing out on both Winners’ Finals on Day 4.
